Someone asked me where I would get my material to blog everyday, well, I am a news junky, and this morning that is where my material is coming from. I was having my morning cup of coffee and watching CNN, when a breaking story came in saying that Iranian ships provoked US ships in international waters. I hate all war. My family tells me that I am unrealistic because war is just part of human nature. Its not part of my nature, am I not human. If war is supposed to be part of human nature then I don't want to be human. Do I think we should let Iran push us around, no, but it sure would be different if they provoked us and we were minding our own business, but we are not. We should not be in Iraq and we will never know how much our being there has affected the way other countries feel about us. Yes, I know that Iran has never been stable, so why did we not go after them in the first place instead of Iraq? I just feel that we are going to have no choice but to attack Iran and where are we going to get the troops for that. I know this post may seem harsher than my others, but I am scared and need to say what I feel.

On the political front: Is Hilary over? I really thought that people would vote for her because she was a Clinton, I wonder if they would vote for Bill again? Tomorrows New Hampshire primary should be quite interesting. This is such a much more exciting process since there is no clear front runner as there usually is and what is even better is there is no front runner in either party. The only thing I am afraid of is that all of this could turn very ugly and that gets voters no where. We need to know about issues, not what one candidate did when he or she was in college. I know when I was in college I was not who I am now and all of the candidates are at least 20 years older than I am. I dare say that in 20 years, I won't be who I am now.

On the Green Front: I have used no plastic bags yet in the new year. I did have two close calls on Friday, though. I went to buy my books for this coming semester of Grad school, and, standing in line, I realized that I had not brought my shopping bags and that there was no way I could carry out my books without a bag, so I am now the proud owner of a canvas bag with the UHCL logo on it. After this I went to Borders to look around, I am such a book person, and the poor sales girl had already put my purchases in a bag and I was walking away when I realized what I was about to do so I turned around, took the books out of the bag, handed her back the bag, and apologized and told her that my New Years Resolution was no plastic bags. She said that was great and graciously took the plastic bag back. Also, yesterday, I bought my groceries at Walmart, I had a gift card or I would not have gone there, and even though there were hundreds of people, I was the only shopper with reusable shopping bags. I would have thought by now that things would be changing, but I guess this area will not change until a law is passed, like in San Francisco, banning plastic bags. Remember if you take your own shopping bags to Whole Foods you receive a bag credit.

Congrats on the no plastic bag thing. I like the reusable bags but most often they are in the house not in the car. :(

Hey Laura!! cindy here from yoga and a latte. i love your blog. as you can see from mine i literally just started and have quite a long way to go, but i am really enjoying it so far. i've never written anything for other people, just in my journal, so this feels like i'm really exposing myself. i hope you don't mind if i ask a couple of questions - how did you get your book reviews or book suggestions from amazon on your blog? i was wanting to do that as well, but wasn't quite sure how to do it. my goal is to write an article a week, although i'd really like to get to a point where i could write everyday. thanks for linking my blog to yours - i will do the same. i too LOVE crochet and am always working on a project or 2 or 3...! i'm also struggling to lose weight so perhaps this will be an additional motivation for me. i look forward to blogging with you in the future!
